Home Insurance customers

You should contact us to inform us of any changes to the information on which your Home Insurance is based, prior to the change being required. This includes changes to any of the information detailed on the policy documentation such as;

  • Change of address
  • The address where any documentation needs to be sent
  • Marital status of any person insured on the Home Insurance policy
  • Occupation of any person insured on the Home Insurance policy
  • Level of cover required
  • Cover away from the home
  • Inclusion of specified items
  • Inclusion of Family Legal Protection
  • Any other information on which your Home Insurance is based

If we are not informed immediately of any changes to your Home Insurance policy, cover may become invalid. This could result in you not being insured, claims being rejected or claims only being partially paid.

What will happen if my details change?

Once we are made aware of the changes, we will assess the new details and adjust your Home Insurance premium if appropriate. Sometimes we are unable to agree to the requested change automatically and the decision will be referred to the relevant insurer.

Once the decision is known our Customer Services team will inform you immediately. New policy documentation confirming any changes made to the Home Insurance policy will be available in the online Self-Service Centre.

  • If changes are made to your Home Insurance policy that affects the premium or additional cover is added such as Family Legal Protection, an updated Policy Payment Arrangements page will be issued confirming the new payment details.
  • If the Home Insurance premium changes and there are remaining instalments, we will adjust the remaining instalments to take account of the premium difference.
  • If the annual Home Insurance premium was paid in one lump sum, or there are no instalments remaining, we will arrange for a single premium payment or refund where appropriate.

If you, or we, make changes to your policy at any time after the first 14 days from your policy start date, an amendment fee of £20 may be charged and the cost of your policy may increase.

We cannot currently process changes to existing Home Insurance policies on-line or via e-mail.
